Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Veteran Service Assistant to support residents at a U.S.VETS site. The role reports to the Veteran Service Coordinator and focuses on delivering basic services, maintaining a safe, sober, and therapeutic environment, and coordinating with clinical staff.

Responsibilities include helping with shelter operations, move-in/out, safety rounds, incident reporting, bed checks, and routine housekeeping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience with programs and homeless populations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the delivery of basic services to veterans served at the facility.
• Maintains a therapeutic community environment and communicates with clinical staff.
• Performs safety rounds and conducts bed checks and inspections.
• Documents bed checks, incidents, client logs and other administrative duties.
• Assists with move-in/move-out, mail handling and weekly cleaning as needed.

Veteran Service AssistantThe Veteran Service Assistant reports directly to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veteran Service Assistant at the designated U.S.VETS site. The Veteran Service Assistant assists in the daily implementation of day-to-day basic residential services.FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptResponsibilitiesAssists in the delivery of basic services (such as shelter, food, hygiene, etc.) to veterans served at the facilityEnsures harmonious atmosphere at the facility by maintaining communication with clinical staff and maintaining a therapeutic community environmentAssists in the delivery/handling of client mailAssists clients with the move-in and move-out from the facilityResponsible for preventing or de-escalating any verbal and physical altercations from the facility including submitting Incident Reports to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant concerning these eventsResponsible for addressing client issues timely to ensure the non-interruption of servicesResponsible for conducting safety rounds around both the internal and external locations of facilitiesConveying needs to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant to maintain supply inventory of supplies and ensures proper storageAssists with maintenance and upkeep of the facility and ensures readiness for inspectionsAssists in the implementation of toxicology testing to promote a sober environmentResponsible for implementation of all safety and emergency proceduresAssist the Veteran Service Coordinator in bed checks, inspections of rooms to ensure a clean, safe and hazardless environmentConducts various administrative duties to include documentation of bed check, inspections, incident reports, client logs, etc.Facilitate routine daily living activities for clientsAdheres to the site work order procedureAssists with weekly cleaning of client room and other common-use areas around the sitePerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentAt least one year of experience with programs and homeless populationsGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with residential staffMust promote client-centered philosophy and skilled in creating/maintaining a sober environmentMust be energetic, dedicated to mission and flexibleBasic computer literacyValid driver’s license required.
