Job summary

USVETS Inland Empire is seeking a Lead Veteran Services Assistant who will supervise the Veterans Services Assistant staff and work with the Veterans Services Coordinator to ensure daily residential operations run smoothly.

You will manage staff schedules, provide training, and respond to incidents, maintaining a sober, safe environment and accurate reporting of services delivered at the facility.

Qualifications

• 1-year VSC or related program experience required.
• Proven leader with ability to manage 8 to 10 residential staff.
• 2 years of leadership experience in the non-profit industry.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the delivery of residential services to veterans served at the facility.
• Develop weekly staff schedules for resident staff with Veterans Service Coordinator.
• Provide training and supervision to residential staff.
• De-escalate verbal/physical altercations and report them to the Veterans Service Manager.
• Ensure safety procedures and proper documentation of services.

Lead Veteran Service AssistantThe Lead Veteran Services Assistant reports directly to the Veteran Services Coordinator. This position directly supervises the Veterans Services Assistant staff and works collaboratively with the Veterans Service Coordinator to ensure effective delivery of residential services. This position is assigned responsibility for daily implementation of the day-to-day basic residential services.FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptResponsibilitiesSupervise the delivery of basic services (shelter, food, hygiene) to veterans served at the facility. Supervises the mail/postage process at the facilitySupervises and organizes daily client services and support functionsSupervise and manages the Veterans Service Coordinator staffDevelops weekly staff schedule for resident staff with Veterans Service CoordinatorProvide support, one-one training and supervision to residential staffResponsible for preventing or de-escalating/defusing any verbal/physical altercations at facility including submitting written report to Veterans Service Manager concerning these eventsResponsible for implementing and making necessary provisions for the fluidity of servicesConveying needs to Veterans Service Coordinator to maintain supply inventory of supplies and meals coordinationResponsible for implementing UA testing to promote a sober environmentResponsible for implementation and supervision of all safety and emergency proceduresResponsible for ensuring the accurate tracking and reporting of all residential services delivered at the facility and ensuring timely submission of these reportsPerforms other duties as requiredRequirementsGood communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills.1-year VSC or related program experience requiredProven leader with ability to manage 8 to 10 residential staffMust be efficient in client-centered philosophy and skilled in creating and implementing a sober environmentBasic computer literacyValid driver’s license required.
