Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a Utility Worker IV to lead and perform skilled work in installing, maintaining, and repairing wastewater collection systems, including sewer mains and lift stations. This role provides day-to-day leadership to utility crews and supports planning, coordination, and problem solving.

You will ensure safety, oversee traffic control, trenching, and permit compliance, and act as a technical resource in the absence of supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1–2 years related wastewater/utility/construction experience or equivalent.
• Texas CDL Class B with a good driving record.
• Traffic Control I (Flagging) certification.
• Utility Safety, Trenching, and Shoring Safety training.
• TEEX training (40–60 hours) may be required by the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Lead, oversees, and assists wastewater crews in installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of sewer mains, service laterals, lift stations and related equipment.
• Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to complete projects.
• Ensure safety practices, traffic control, trench safety, and OSHA standards are followed; inspect work for quality and compliance.
• Assist with troubleshooting system issues such as blockages, overflows, and emergency repairs, and respond to customer service requests.
