Job summary

City of Pasadena seeks an Utility Maintenance Technician III to lead maintenance crews, coordinate projects, and ensure safe water operations. Responsibilities include meter reading, chlorine feeding, hydrant work, and after-hours callouts as needed.

The role supports water sites with daily maintenance, compliance with water quality standards, and strong communication across division levels. Requires CDL B preferred and Texas licenses.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in construction trades such as concrete work, pipe work, electrical and general labor.
• Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
• Class C Ground Water License.
• Traffic Control Training.
• Utility Safety, Trenching & Shoring Safety, Confined Space Entry Classes.
• PREFERRED: CDL Class B driver's license

Responsibilities

• Assists maintenance crews in manual tasks for water lines, meters, and plant equipment.
• Provides leadership and coordinates materials for projects and daily maintenance work.
• Coordinates on projects and daily maintenance at water sites to ensure water quality compliance.
• Reads and records water meters at well sites daily.
• Feeds chlorine for disinfection and maintains residual levels as required by TCEQ.
• Operates fire hydrants to flush main lines as needed.
• Maintains required licenses, certifications, clearances, and job requirements.
• May be called out for after-hours service and participates in department leadership.
