Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a Utility Worker III to lead a crew in digging and replacing drainage lines and performing maintenance on streets, sidewalks, ditches, and storm sewers. The role requires strong manual labor, independent work, and safety judgment with equipment like backhoes and gas tools.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and a Texas Class B CDL with a clean driving record; Class A CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; and 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Texas Class B CDL and good driving record.
• PREFERRED: To obtain a Class A CDL

Responsibilities

• Leads crew to dig up and replace drainage lines and maintains streets, sidewalks, ditches, and storm sewers.
• Operates backhoes or trenchers and places pipes in trenches.
• Assembles and disassembles barricades and uses city radio.
• Adheres to safety equipment and procedures; exercises judgment when safety factors exist.
