Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a lead Utility Worker IV to oversee and perform skilled wastewater collection system work, including sewer mains, lift stations, and equipment. The role provides day-to-day leadership to crews, coordinates tasks, and ensures safety and quality on all projects.

You will assist with planning, troubleshooting, and emergency responses while maintaining records and ensuring OSHA and city guidelines are followed. A CDL Class B and related safety training are required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED plus 1–2 years in wastewater/utility/construction or equivalent.
• CDL Class B with clean driving record is required.
• Traffic Control I (Flagging) certification and Utility Safety, Trenching & Shoring training are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform skilled and semi-skilled work in wastewater collection systems, including sewer mains, lift stations, and related equipment.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to utility crews and assist with planning, coordination, and troubleshooting of projects.
• Ensure safety, compliance with city, state, OSHA requirements, and quality standards; manage traffic control and trench safety.
• Assist with emergency response, system troubleshooting, and after-hours call-outs as needed.
• Operate and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment; complete work orders and reports.
