Job summary

Orchid Insurance, part of Arrowhead Intermediaries, seeks an Underwriting Supervisor to lead a team in underwriting new and renewal business. You will integrate inspection findings to support risk decisions and approve, modify, or reject risks per carrier guidelines.

The role requires 5+ years of homeowners underwriting experience, with wildfire risk expertise. Evening hours support CA/West Coast operations, with strong emphasis on training and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of California homeowners underwriting experience with wildfire risk assessment.
• Experience underwriting High Value Homes within Surplus Lines is strongly preferred.
• License: Florida 2-20 General Lines Agent or residential state P&C license required.
• Maintain licenses and participate in continuing education.
• Strong attention to detail and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Underwriting Manager on production and profitability goals.
• Develop and maintain Orchid Underwriting service standards and best practices.
• Ensure activities adhere to carrier guidelines and best practices.
• Lead an Underwriting team in service, quality, and production.
• Support UAT to align business needs with system improvements.
• Set and measure production and quality goals for new/renewal/inspection underwriting.
• Provide phone/chat coverage to meet client service levels.
• Coordinate with Senior Leadership, Programs and Sales/Marketing to meet objectives.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce expenses.
• Share market knowledge to inform pricing and product strategies.
• Mentor teammates and foster professional growth.
