Metric Geo in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design, management and delivery of bridge and highway structural projects within its Transportation practice.

The role requires 15+ years of experience, an Illinois PE and SE license, and a proven track record in leading technical teams, managing budgets and developing client relationships. You will mentor engineers, guide project delivery, and contribute to business development and pursuit activities.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Illinois PE and SE licenses required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of bridge, highway and transportation structural projects.
• Manage project teams, schedules, budgets and resources through project delivery.
• Take a lead role in structural analysis, design and engineering calculations.
• Develop structural designs involving foundations, loading, structural response and connections.
• Conduct site investigations and evaluate existing structural conditions.
• Develop project timelines, cost estimates and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with DOTs, municipalities, contractors and other clients.
• Support construction activities, inspections and resolution of structural design issues.
• Review engineering work and ensure projects meet applicable codes, standards and quality requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation and project deliverables.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and other professionals.
• Work with leadership on business development, client growth and winning new work.
• Help identify opportunities for improving project delivery, quality and profitability.
• Contribute to the development of longer-term growth strategies within the transportation practice.
