Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. is seeking a full-time Project Engineer in its Transportation unit. The position requires 5+ years of experience and involves leading project teams, developing engineering solutions, and delivering complete end products.

Responsibilities include performing transportation analyses, preparing reports, and developing PS&E documents for municipal, county, and state agencies. A BS in Civil Engineering is required; PE is preferred, along with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
• Ability to lead, manage and schedule staff to meet project needs.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with Illinois DOT and local municipalities (preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Resolve engineering problems and tasks as assigned with help from more experienced staff.
• Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering and other reports.
• Work as part of a team to provide transportation engineering services for municipal, county, and state agencies.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies.
• Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
