Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician III to lead inspection on North Carolina transportation projects, including roadways and bridges.

The role requires an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with five years of field inspection experience, knowledge of DOT standards, and flexibility to work nights/weekends as needed. This is a full-time, on-site position throughout NC.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related curriculum.
• Five (5) years of progressive technician level experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• Thorough understanding of DOT standards and specifications and roadway standard drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor operations on transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout construction of the project.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
