Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician IV in North Carolina to serve as a lead inspector on transportation construction projects. The role supervises inspection staff and ensures conformance to plans and specifications on roadway and bridge work.

The position requires an Associate degree plus seven years of progressive technician experience, experience interpreting highway plans, and knowledge of DOT standards. TN visa eligibility applies for certain candidates.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with seven years of technician experience.
Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects.
Understanding of DOT standards and roadway drawings.
NCDOT certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection of contractor operations on transportation projects to verify plans and specs.
Supervise inspection staff during construction.
Measure and track quantities of pay items.
Maintain records including material certifications and daily diaries.
Interact with public and agencies to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
