Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) to strengthen roadway operations in Dauphin County. You will guide maintenance activities, lead teams, and shape long-range plans to keep roads safe and dependable.

You will manage crews, coordinate scheduling, ensure safety, and build partnerships to support roadway needs while evaluating projects based on field observations and public input.

Qualifications

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the PA State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for surface treatment, patching, snow removal, bridge work, and other operations.
• Crew Management: Supervise general and specialized crews and ensure proper training for safe and efficient work.
• Agility Coordination: Promote and negotiate Agility agreements and maintain partnerships that support roadway needs.
• Work Evaluation: Inspect projects, review conditions, and develop priority planning based on field observations and complaints.
• Safety Leadership: Ensure proper traffic control setups, enforce safety procedures, and encourage proactive accident prevention.
• Personnel Oversight: Handle performance reviews, scheduling, disciplinary actions, coaching, and problem resolution for assigned staff.

Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology
