Job summary

GFT is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer for a remote role with hybrid options in certain metro areas. You will lead transmission line designs, work with clients and internal teams, and contribute strategically to project goals.

Requirements include a Civil/Structural/Electrical degree and 3+ years in transmission line design, with strong PLS-CADD skills and knowledge of NESC/IEEE/NEC. PE license preferred and excellent writing/communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC and related codes.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting preferred.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with details, lists, staking tables, and charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, and timelines.
• Write and review specs compliant with industry standards.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations.
• Oversee project implementation and verification of foundations and equipment.
• Participate in proposals and business development; travel to client sites.
• Mentor engineers and technicians within the team.
