Job summary

GFT is seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Group Leader to join our Power Business Group. This role will manage transmission line design work and lead teams across projects, with potential for full remote work for the right candidate.

You will supervise staff, develop design criteria, and ensure compliance with NESC/IEEE/NEC while coordinating with clients. A Bachelor's in engineering and 10+ years in transmission line design are required; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC and related codes.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise transmission line team members.
• Mentor engineers, designers, and technicians.
• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specs.
• Prepare construction packages with plans, materials, staking, and charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, and timelines.
• Write and review specs per NESC/IEEE/NEC.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations.
• Oversee project implementation and verify foundations, structures, equipment.
• Support pursuit decisions and business development.
• Travel to client sites as needed.
