Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced transmission design engineer to design lines from 69kV through 500kV, mentor junior designers, and ensure all work complies with client specifications and industry codes.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering education, extensive PLS-CADD experience, and ability to coordinate with clients while delivering clear reports and calculations.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience developing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience with transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly and meeting client/S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawings, and TL models in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
