Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior transmission design engineer to design lines from 69kV to 765kV, mentor staff, and coordinate multi-discipline activities. The role emphasizes client-facing project execution and adherence to industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have ABET-accredited degree, 15+ years of transmission design, and strong proficiency in PLS-CADD, with experience reviewing drawings and leading design efforts for 69kV–500kV projects.

Qualifications

BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
15+ years of transmission design experience.
Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
Experience developing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
Experience working with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
Coordinate design activities to meet specs, codes, and client requirements.
Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information per client and S&L formats.
Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and models (PLS-CADD).
Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
