Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to design 69kV–500kV lines and lead a small project team in a hybrid Pasadena, CA setting. You'll engage with experienced engineers, mentor staff, and develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.

The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree, 7+ years on transmission projects, and strong knowledge of design codes (NESC, IEC, IEEE, ASCE 7). Proficiency with PLS-CADD and MS Office is essential. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• We require an ABET-accredited engineering degree.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years on diverse transmission projects with design, cost estimates, schedules, and procurement specs.
• Knowledge of right of way, conductor sags/tensions, and construction docs.
• Familiarity with design codes such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.
• Attention to detail in engineering analysis and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Lead cost analyses, criteria development, routing and siting of lines.
• Conduct conductor selection studies and shielding/ grounding analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors/clients to specify line components.
• Direct a small project team.
