Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission Section Manager to lead our Minnesota-based power delivery team. You will guide engineers and designers, manage projects, and ensure high-quality delivery for critical transmission line initiatives.

The role emphasizes staff development, client relations, and collaboration with regional leadership to meet market demands. A PE license and 10+ years of experience are preferred, with travel likely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of technical transmission line experience, up to 500kV.
• Professional registration/license may be required.
• Strong knowledge of routing, environmental permitting, ROW, PLS-CADD, and tower design.
• Experience in distribution line design or steel lattice towers.
• Proven track record growing a transmission practice and client relationships.
• Active involvement in professional associations to enhance HDR expertise.
• Excellent MS Office skills; familiarity with P6 or similar scheduling tool.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for daily operations of the Transmission section, including staff development, profitability, morale, and quality control.
• Act as Project Manager for production and delivery on key transmission projects.
• Lead section staff and coordinate technical services with other groups.
• Support local marketing, strategic planning, proposals, and interviews.
• Hire and mentor technical personnel within the section.
• Collaborate with Area and Regional leadership for marketing and production.
• Implement and uphold company policy and procedures.
• Perform other duties to support the team and clients.
