Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Thermal Engineer for the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Center in El Segundo, CA. You will perform detailed thermal analyses across product lifecycles, from design trade studies to production support, using hand calculations and finite element tools.

You will lead a team, present results to customers, and develop department processes while planning tests and correlating data.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
• An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
• Experience in thermal analysis with tools like ANSYS, FloTHERM, PATRAN or Thermal Desktop/SINDA.
• Experience in thermal analysis of electro-optical sensor systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations to scope higher detail models.
• Conduct detailed thermal analyses to address program challenges.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware.
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models.
