Job summary

NYS Office of Information Technology Services seeks a Technology Analyst 2 focused on Human-Centered Design to design and oversee business systems, translating user needs into ergonomic, accessible interfaces. You will supervise a team of Technology Analyst 1s and collaborate with IT professionals to shape requirements and deliver user-friendly solutions.

Responsibilities include leading design efforts, conducting usability assessments, coordinating upgrades, and producing thought leadership

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of information technology experience, two (2) years in human-centered design.
• Substitutions described in the posting allow for IT experience credit across degrees and fields.
• Preferred: experience with web page design and user-centered design.
• Knowledge of accessibility and ergonomic considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work planning and oversight, technical problem solving and communication / collaboration with other teams within business functions.
• Support less-experienced team members in interface design, development, and implementation.
• Provide leadership for assigned organizational responsibilities, programs, and personnel, including team collaboration, work processes, infrastructure, and technical oversight.
• Translate user research data into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences for system operators.
• Oversee and monitor ongoing data exchange and interface operations.
• Coordinate, test, and perform system and software upgrades to the interface engine(s).
• Prepare, coordinate, and conduct workload analysis as well as usability assessments.
• Use industry standard design/prototyping tools to create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes.
• Maintain skills current with industry trends and best support customers.
• Act as a team leader as needed and assist less experienced interface engineering staff.
• Provide support and interact with data exchange partners (internally and externally).
• Ensure requirements allocation and interface definition studies translate to customer requirements for hardware and software HIS specifications.
