Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide technical support for operating room equipment, materials, and instruments. You will train OR staff, collaborate with surgeons, Central Sterile, and outside vendors, and coordinate routine and ad hoc maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist training program or equivalent.
• Minimum three years related OR experience required.
• Proficiency in using OR computer systems and/or personal computer applications.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical products, instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the OR staff through planning, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling all operating room equipment, materials and instruments.
• Provide training to OR staff on proper use of equipment.
• Collaborate with surgeon office staff, OR staff, Central Sterile staff and outside vendors in coordination of OR equipment.
• Carry out and/or coordinate routine and ad hoc maintenance and repairs to equipment.
• Function as a Surgical Technologist as needed and assigned.
• Onboarding of all new staff and students; provide orientation rotation.
• Develop and maintain inventory par levels and review stock usage.
• Assist with preference card development and maintenance.
• Establish instrument set protocols and revise instrument sets to improve utilization.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities through inventory management.
• Coordinate with Central Sterile and OR leadership to ensure equipment readiness.
• Create and maintain equipment reference manuals and provide training to Central Sterile staff.
• Conduct in-service training for assigned OR service group staff.
