Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Surgical Technician Lead to support a surgical team by preparing operating rooms, organizing instruments, and assisting with procedures under the surgeon and RN supervision.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, infection prevention, and training of surgical technicians, with involvement in scheduling and quality initiatives to foster a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
• 3-5 years of experience as a surgical technician required.
• Prior lead or preceptor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and surgical field with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Assist surgical team during procedures by anticipating surgeon’s needs and passing instruments promptly.
• Maintain aseptic technique and infection control to ensure patient safety.
• Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse per protocols.
• Retain and label specimens for pathology and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Assist with room turnover between cases and restock instruments and supplies.
