Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room, coordinating equipment, instruments and supplies. You will train OR staff, collaborate across departments, and participate in maintenance and problem-solving to ensure patient safety.

Minimum 3 years OR experience and completion of an approved Surgical Technologist program are required; an associates degree is preferred. The role involves rotating shifts and on-call as needed, within a union environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved Surgical Technologist training program or equivalent combined education and experience required.
• Minimum three (3) years related OR experience required.
• Proficient in using OR computer systems and/or personal computer applications.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical products, instruments and equipment required.
• Ability to concentrate and prioritize in distracting environment.
• Ability to work at a quick pace.
• Ability to work in surgical services environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the OR staff through planning, coordinating, maintaining and controlling operating room equipment, materials and instruments.
• Provide training to OR staff on proper use of equipment.
• Collaborate with surgeon office staff, OR staff, Central Sterile staff and outside vendors in coordination of OR equipment.
• Carry out and coordinate routine and ad hoc maintenance and repairs to equipment.
• Function as a Surgical Technologist as needed.
• Provide supervision of other employees where supervisory responsibility is limited to occasional direction.
• Onboard new staff and students and coordinate orientation rotation.
• Manage inventory par levels, stock usage, and special orders as directed.
• Develop and maintain instrument set protocols and contribute to instrument set utilization.
• Research requests for new equipment and assist with trials and evaluations.
