Job summary

Southern Electric Corporation is seeking a Substation Apparatus Test Technician to perform testing and maintenance of medium and high voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical apparatus in utility substation environments.

You will lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and related devices, while preparing comprehensive field reports and coordinating with engineers and clients.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical apparatus testing, commissioning, or maintenance.
• Ability to read schematics and protection diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced testing, inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of substation equipment.
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, transformer turns ratio, and contact resistance testing.
• Analyze test results and diagnose equipment issues.
• Prepare detailed field reports and ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate field activities and travel to sites as required.
• Maintain safety policies and promote a safety culture in the field.
