Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer for the Substation department. The role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of projects, with responsibility for foundation design, structural steel, and associated calculations.

You will collaborate with engineers and technicians, and may work in office or field. Required is a Civil/Structural ABET-accredited degree and SE registration, with a preference for 7+ years of experience and knowledge of substation layouts,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
Professional Structural Engineer (SE) registration required.
Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience is preferred.
Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.
Understanding of structural steel, drilled pier & spread footing design and detailing required.
Experience using MathCAD, STAAD or equivalent, foundation design programs, and/or other structural modeling software preferred.
Knowledge of AISC, and ACI required, ASCE & NESC preferred.
Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to ensure items are complete and accurate.
Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations within the structural discipline.
Coordinates design aspects of a project and checks computations for others.
Communicates effectively with clients to ensure needs are met.
May work in office or field and participate in multi-discipline projects.
