Job summary

AES Corporation in Texas is seeking a Substation / P&C Engineer to support substations, switchyards, generator interconnections, protection and control systems, and high-voltage commissioning for gas generation projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of substation, switchyard, transmission, HV construction, or protection and control engineering experience.
• Knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA, metering, power-system studies, and substation commissioning.
• Familiarity with ERCOT generator and large load interconnection requirements.
• Familiarity with substation equipment including Live Tank Circuit Breakers and Current Limiting reactors.
• Familiarity integrating generation technologies (BESS, CCGT, RICE, Fuel Cell).
• Familiarity with microgrid design and operation.
• Strong cross-functional coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to travel to project locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and support substation design, protection and control, metering, SCADA, grounding, and testing.
• Prepare design criteria, calculations, drawings, data sheets, and technical reports.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines.
• Review EPC, consultant, OEM, and vendor work for compliance with project requirements.
• Perform studies, design optimization, and value engineering.
• Support procurement through technical bid evaluations and inspections.
• Provide field engineering support and verify installation against docs.
• Investigate issues and develop practical resolutions.
• Support schedule, budget, risk, interface, and change management.
• Assist in commissioning, startup, performance verification, and turnover.
• Maintain baselines, redlines, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare training and operating information for plant personnel.
• Capture lessons learned and improve standards.
• Travel to TX sites as required.
