Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Substation / P&C Engineer to support substations, switchyards, and high-voltage projects. The successful candidate will work in a matrixed environment, coordinating across civil, electrical, and operations teams to deliver safe, reliable gas projects on time and within budget.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in electrical engineering and 10+ years of substation or protection & control experience, with strong knowledge of relaying, SCADA, and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of substation, switchyard, transmission or protection & control engineering experience.
• Knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA, metering, power-system studies, and substation commissioning.
• Familiarity with ERCOT generator and large load interconnection requirements.
• Ability to travel to project sites and supplier facilities as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and support engineering for substation physical design, protection and control, metering, SCADA, grounding, and commissioning.
• Prepare and review design criteria, calculations, drawings, data sheets, and technical reports.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines; review vendor work products.
• Perform technical studies, equipment selection, and value-engineering evaluations.
• Support procurement through technical bid evaluations and inspections.
• Provide field engineering support and ensure conformance with approved documents and safety requirements.
• Travel to project sites and vendor facilities as required.
