Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Principal Protection & Control Engineer to lead HV substation protection for solar, wind, and storage projects. You will guide design, reviews, commissioning, and testing, ensuring protection coordination and compliance across multiple sites.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in HV protection, strong communication skills, and experience with SEL, ETAP, and PowerFactory. This role requires travel about 25% and offers an at-will employment framework with a competitive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in power systems.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in protection and control for HV substations or renewables.
• Experience with SEL protection and automation products required.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and control engineering for HV substations (35–500 kV).
• Provide design, engineering reviews and commissioning support.
• Review relay settings, protection philosophies and studies.
• Coordinate with EPCs, utilities and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and support knowledge sharing in the team.
• Ensure NERC PRC compliance and standardization across projects.
