Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Engineer to lead protection activities for high‑voltage substations supporting renewable energy projects. You will drive design development through commissioning and energization, coordinating with EPCs, utilities, and internal teams.

Required are a BS in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of HV protection experience, and proficiency with SEL products, IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus; travel ~25% to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required with emphasis in power systems.
• Minimum 5 years of protection and control engineering experience for HV substations or renewable facilities.
• Experience with SEL protection and automation products required.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and substation automation applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and control engineering for HV substations (35 kV–500 kV) across projects.
• Provide design development, reviews, commissioning support, and post-energization support.
• Review protection drawings, relay settings, studies, and coordination analyses.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with EPCs, utilities, and internal teams.
