Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead design efforts for high‑voltage substations. You will mentor junior engineers, develop relay protection schemes, and coordinate with clients and cross‑functional teams from concept through construction.

This role emphasizes safety, quality, and reliability in critical infrastructure projects. The position offers flexible work arrangements within the United States, with preferred hybrid options near listed office

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• 7-10 years of experience in Substation Protection & Control design engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems per codes and client standards.
• Develop protective relaying and control system designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Create equipment and material specifications for procurement and develop design scope and cost estimates.
• Complete conceptual protection and control designs and layouts for new and existing facilities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors for project execution.
• Lead client meetings and site visits to collect data and present engineering solutions.
• Ensure QA/QC processes and technical reviews are performed and compliant.
