Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead the design of high-voltage substations and mentor junior engineers. You will develop code-compliant solutions and coordinate with clients to ensure safety, reliability, and project success.

You will design protection and control schemes, prepare diagrams, specifications, and calculations, and guide projects from concept through construction while upholding QA/QC standards and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSEE degree required.
• 7–10 years of substation protection & control design experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent document management and organization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control systems in accordance with codes and client standards.
• Develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams and SCADA interfaces.
• Create relay protection schemes, settings criteria, and control philosophies with engineering calculations.
• Prepare equipment specifications, design scopes, and cost estimates.
• Lead conceptual designs for new or existing substations and coordinate with clients, vendors, and project teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and reviewers to ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Participate in client meetings and site visits to collect data and present solutions.
