Job summary

Omaha Public Power District seeks a Substation Modification & Compliance Engineer III to lead maintenance coordination, document outcomes, and assure regulatory compliance across substations. You will validate breaker and transformer test results, manage maintenance programs, and guide junior engineers while collaborating with manufacturers on specialized needs.

You will refine Cascade configurations, plan outages, and prepare official responses for audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Must have the ability to work with cross‑functional teams and manage complex tasks.
• Familiarity with NERC/SIP compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation of complex breaker, transformer, and oil test results and develop corrective action plans.
• Execute and refine the Protection System Maintenance Program by scheduling work, monitoring progress, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
• Analyze and update asset parameters in Cascade to ensure accurate configuration and support maintenance reliability.
• Collaborate with Field Supervisors to plan maintenance and outage schedules that balance system needs and resource availability.
• Develop engineering analyses, design packages, and cost estimates that support substation modifications and maintenance tasks.
• Produce detailed maintenance metrics, analytics, and reports that strengthen planning and improve program performance.
• Prepare and support NERC, SIP, EPA, and environmental oil compliance documentation, including contribution to official audit responses.
• Mentor Engineers I and II and improve departmental standards, processes, and consistency.
