Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Specialist to lead design efforts for utility-related projects in our Chicago or Oak Brook offices. You will apply broad engineering knowledge, supervise detailed design phases, and interface with clients while ensuring quality control.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in engineering from ABET program, a PE license preferred, and 4–10 years of structural engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license preferred.
• Minimum 4 to 10 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• US driver’s license and US work authorization.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong technology skills and proficiency with Office365.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering systems for overhead and subsurface utility projects.
• Lead detailed design phases and coordinate with the engineering team.
• Train entry-level staff and perform quality control reviews.
• Interface with clients to discuss topics and provide project support.
• Prepare engineering/construction documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS.
• Analyze information from surveys, atlases, field sketches, and datasheets.
• Manage project risk with project management and leadership oversight.
• Travel as needed (less than 30%).
