Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC seeks a Structural Engineering Specialist to lead design coordination in Chicago or Oak Brook. You will apply broad engineering principles to utility projects, supervise design phases, and interface with clients while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

The role requires a BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 4–10 years of structural experience, and PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• PE license preferred.
• 4–10 years of structural engineering experience.
• US driver's license and US work authorization.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong IT skills and familiarity with Office365.
• 2D CAD experience with AutoCAD or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering systems for overhead and subsurface utility projects.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for utility engineering work.
• Train entry-level staff in professional development.
• Perform quality control reviews under professional supervision.
• Interface with clients to discuss engineering topics.
• Prepare detailed engineering and construction documents (AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS).
• Analyze data from surveys, atlas, field sketches, datasheets.
• Manage project risk with project management leadership.
• Communicate complex engineering matters to internal teams.
• Travel up to 30%.
