Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Lead Design Engineer to guide a team of structural engineers on nuclear facility projects. You will interface with multiple disciplines and clients, directing design calculations, specifications, and drawings for upgrades and new plants.

The role emphasizes applying materials knowledge, steel and reinforced concrete design, and mentoring staff. PE or SE license is preferred, with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of experience on projects in industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facilities.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI design codes; PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of structural engineers on nuclear facility projects.
• Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
• Guide design calculations, develop specs, and support drawings development.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
