Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Humble, TX is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to provide sterilized surgical instruments and supplies to the operating room and other areas. The role may lead a shift and supervise staff as needed, adhering to Standard Precautions and Event Related Sterility.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED; CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification; and at least two years of experience sterilizing instruments.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required/preferred.
Minimum two years of experience in sterilization of instruments and supplies.
Ability to follow English instructions and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift as needed.
Advanced knowledge of Sterile Processing department rules, procedures, and processes.
Handle and care for instruments/equipment, select cleaning agents, and prepare for sterilization.
Identify, document, and report equipment needing repair and ensure maintenance.
Organize, assemble, and sterilize instruments per standards.
Peel-pack, wrap, inspect, and ensure cleanliness and functionality of instruments.
Operate and maintain cleaning and sterilization equipment safely.
Maintain records, order supplies, and monitor quality control and infection control standards.
Communicate delays or issues in OR and other areas; support team.
Pursue ongoing education and mentor less experienced staff.
Demonstrate compassionate, safe, personalized patient care and uphold Memorial Hermann standards.
