Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to provide and maintain sterile instruments, supplies and equipment for the operating room and hospital areas.

This full-time night shift requires Mon–Fri 10:00 pm–7:00 am, with weekends every 6 weeks. A High School Diploma or GED is required, CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification is required, and CIS/CSIS certification is a plus, with at least two years of sterilization experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience involving sterilization of instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English language.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver supplies and equipment with others.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and apply problem-solving skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Be able to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift as needed.
• Advance knowledge of Sterile Processing department rules, procedures and processes.
• Accurately handle and care for instruments/equipment and prepare for sterilization.
• Identify, document, and report equipment/tools needing repair and ensure maintenance.
• Organize, prepare, assemble and sterilize instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Peel-pack and wrap instruments for sterilization and inspect for use and cleanliness.
• Operate and monitor cleaning and sterilization equipment safely.
• Maintain records of equipment and supplies and manage inventory and quality control.
