Job summary

Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare and package surgical instruments for sterilization, following Standard Precautions and event-related sterility principles.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with healthcarerelated training, at least one year in sterile processing, and the ability to follow English instructions. CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification is preferred or must be obtained within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with one year of related allied/clinical healthcare training.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required or obtain within one year of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience in Sterile Processing or related healthcare role.

Responsibilities

• Handle and care for instruments and equipment, preparing for sterilization.
• Identify and report equipment in need of repair and ensure maintenance is completed.
• Assemble, wrap, and sterilize instruments per hospital standards; inspect for cleanliness and function.
• Operate and monitor cleaning/sterilization equipment safely and accurately.
• Maintain records of equipment and supplies; assist with inventory and quality control.
• Support infection control standards and contribute to department goals and professional development.
