Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced mechanical/structural engineer to lead the design, analysis, and release of primary structures for stage components. You will own the full design cycle, perform trade studies, and drive manufacturing readiness while coordinating with cross-functional teams across multiple sites.

You will apply FEA tools (Nastran/ANSYS/Optistruct/LS-Dyna), ensure manufacturability with GD&T, and maintain CAD/ drawing packages.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years in professional engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, stress/strain, statics, and finite element analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering scope to close including planning, detailed design, engineering release, procurement, and test.
• Ownership of the entire design cycle of structure components, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, structural analysis, build, development testing, and qualification.
• Develop, release, and maintain a full CAD and drawing engineering definition package.
• Support procurement activities to support vehicle build schedules.
• Support integrated test objectives, data review, and reporting.
• Perform or facilitate emergent analysis for non-conformances.
• Participate in subsystem level testing including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis.
• Work with multi-functional teams across multiple work sites that include design, analysis, materials, processes, structures, fluids, systems, procurement, and manufacturing.
