Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Structural/Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and fabrication of ground support equipment for space vehicle test facilities. You will drive architecture and system-level requirements, and deliver tooling through production.

You will mentor engineers, manage external partners, and enforce STAAD/ANSYS, Creo, and ASME Y14.5 standards. Expect occasional travel and collaboration across teams to ensure safe, reliable test facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural, civil, mechanical, or aerospace engineering (or similar).
• 5+ years in design, analysis and construction of large structural systems.
• Experience leading structural and mechanical analysis efforts using FEA tools (STAAD/ANSYS).
• Experience designing bolted and welded connections and reviewing analyses.
• Experience with concrete foundations and anchors; 3D CAD in Creo.
• Ability to apply ASME Y14.5 drafting standards to tooling drawings.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.; background check and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design solutions for complex ground systems and drive decisions across projects.
• Own lifecycle design of test stand tooling from architecture to production build.
• Provide FEA and hand-calcs for steel structures and tooling fixtures; mentor junior engineers.
• Lead external partners through full project lifecycle including fabrication and activation.
• Identify and resolve complex technical risks; travel as needed.
