Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead a team responsible for the mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces from concept through space flight.

The ideal candidate will oversee architecture trades, analyses, manufacturing, and environmental qualification, collaborating with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams to deliver robust, manufacturable space hardware.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 9 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design across programs.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with environmental test campaigns (vibe, shock, TVAC).
• Experience with design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for mechanical aspects of CesiumAstro spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces through all development phases.
• Direct, mentor, and grow engineers in the design of space hardware and architectures.
• Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive team; participate in proposal writing.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Develop robust mechanical designs from concept through space flight including requirements, trades, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and in-orbit support.
