Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a highly experienced Level 5 Lead Systems Engineer to serve as the vehicle-level technical leader for MK1-102, the VIPER lunar mission. You will own end-to-end systems engineering from requirements definition through design closeout, integration, and flight readiness, while guiding cross-functional IPTs and senior leadership decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years in systems engineering within aerospace/defense sectors.
• Experience leading full-vehicle or multi-element system development.
• Proven ability to drive technical decisions and achieve cross-functional consensus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Vehicle Lead Systems Engineer for the MK1-102 mission, owning the integrated baseline from requirements through flight.
• Own the definition, decomposition, allocation, and management of vehicle and mission requirements and design parameters.
• Drive the DACs toward Critical Design Review, coordinating across IPTs and ensuring exit criteria are met.
• Mentor engineers and represent vehicle in program and customer reviews; drive technical consensus across teams.
