Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead Space Vehicle system design for Blue Ring missions. You will collaborate with engineers across hardware, software, and integration teams to craft reliable space vehicles and mission-ready concepts.

Expect leadership, deep technical direction, and hands-on MBSE for complex propulsion, avionics, and communications domains. The role emphasizes mentorship, safety, and quality as we push toward reusable, low-cost spaceflight.

Qualifications

• BS in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 10+ years in spacecraft design or related field with progression to senior/lead roles.
• Proven track record leading complex cross-functional programs.
• Strong knowledge of control theory and closed-loop design for spacecraft systems.
• Experience defining system-level requirements and verification strategies.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural baseline development and long-term engineering roadmap.
• Lead requirements decomposition and interface control documents.
• Provide direction for mission CONOPS development and planning.
• Act as technical lead for milestone reviews and cross-program decisions.
• Oversee integration of spacecraft hardware, software, and control systems into test facilities and launch vehicles.
• Develop MBSE design frameworks, simulations, and HIL/SIL testing capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and promote a culture of safety and engineering excellence.
