Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the Space Vehicle System Design for a unique customer mission within the Blue Ring Systems Engineering, Integration & Test organization. You will collaborate with system, software, hardware, and integration engineers to create optimal spacecraft solutions and guide them through AI&T, launch vehicle integration, and mission operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in spacecraft design or related field with progression to senior/lead roles
• Proven track record leading cross-functional technical programs
• Strong knowledge of control theory, DSP, and closed-loop design for spacecraft systems
• Experience defining system-level requirements, interfaces, and verification/validation
• Ability to lead and influence technical teams and stakeholders
• Proficiency in MBSE and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo, etc.)
• U.S. citizen or lawful resident suitable for security clearance

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural baseline development for the assigned program
• Lead decomposition and allocation of system requirements and interface control documents
• Provide technical direction for CONOPS and mission planning
• Lead milestone reviews and cross-program architectural decisions
• Oversee integration of spacecraft hardware, software, and control systems
• Develop model-based design frameworks and HIL/SIL test capabilities
• Collaborate with leadership to align execution with cost, schedule, and mission objectives
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of safety and excellence
• Support critical test campaigns and mission operations on-site and remotely
• Partner with Enterprise functions for producibility and reliability
