Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a highly experienced Lead Systems Engineer (Level 5) to serve as vehicle-level technical leader for MK1-102, delivering NASA's VIPER rover to the lunar surface. You will own end-to-end systems engineering, from requirements baselining through verification and validation tests, coordinating across IPTs and with Build Operations & Vehicle Test.

This senior role requires depth, leadership, and consensus-building across a complex vehicle program and will involve mentoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
• 12+ years in systems engineering within aerospace/defense
• Experience as technical lead for full-vehicle development and integration
• Experience owning a complex system through development lifecycle
• Experience developing/executing V&V plans
• Collaboration with subsystems, mission ops and I&T teams

Responsibilities

• Serve as Vehicle Lead Systems Engineer for MK1-102
• Own requirements, decomposition, allocation and management
• Drive DACs toward CDR and align with IPTs
• Lead through Critical Design Review and I&T readiness
• Define verification approach for the vehicle and payload
• Accountable for VIPER payload integration and deployment concepts
• Collaborate with mission analysis teams for reliable objectives
• Review ICDs and major design decisions
• Lead trade studies and manage configuration changes
• Identify risks and drive mitigations across teams
• Mentor engineers and represent in reviews and interchanges
