Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is hiring a full-time Sous Chef at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID. The role requires leadership in the kitchen, adherence to recipes and production standards, and weekend availability.

Pay ranges from $23.00 to $27.00 per hour, with opportunities for training and advancement. Responsibilities include supervising cooks, managing safety procedures, maintaining inventory, and ensuring quality service during peak hours.

Qualifications

• Prior cooking experience is highly preferred; willing to train.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards; ensures deadlines are met.
• Supervises hourly food service associates: interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, reviewing performance, and recommending disciplinary action.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; cleans workstation before leaving area; keeps display equipment clean during service.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner and reports relevant information to the supervisor.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies; tracks product production, consumption, and waste; informs supervisor when supplies or product are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
