Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services in Idaho Falls, ID is hiring immediately for a full-time Sous Chef. The role oversees kitchen operations at Idaho State University, with focus on leading cooks, ensuring recipes and production standards are met, and maintaining food safety protocols.

Salary ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, with benefits including major holidays off, free meals, and opportunities for training and promotion.

Qualifications

• Kitchen leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; cleans workstation and keeps display equipment clean during service.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relays information to supervisor.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; tracks production, consumption and waste; informs supervisor when supplies are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
