Job summary

The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte is seeking a Lead Sommelier to elevate the fine dining wine program through expert recommendations and curated pairings. You will educate the service team on wine origins, vintages, and varietals while shaping a compelling beverage program aligned with the restaurant's standards.

Lead the wine list development, manage cellar operations, and build strong partnerships with wineries and distributors.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Related work experience: 2 years in a wine/beverage role.
• Supervisory experience: 1 year in a leadership capacity.
• No required licenses or certifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings.
• Educate guests on wine origins, vintages, varietals, and pairings.
• Develop and maintain wine lists, beverage offerings, and promotions.
• Build relationships with wineries, distributors, and internal teams.
• Source and evaluate new wines through tastings and partnerships.
• Oversee wine cellar operations, inventory, storage, and replenishment.
• Lead wine education initiatives, tastings, and staff training.
• Support leadership with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with culinary, service, and operations teams for seamless execution.
