Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions using Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern DevOps practices. Responsibilities include building microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems, and applying AI/LLM-related technologies when appropriate, while ensuring security, performance, and reliability across enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Six to eight years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in Distributed Systems, Microservices Architecture, RESTful APIs, and SOA.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications on Azure and/or AWS, including containerized deployments.
• Hands-on expertise with Kafka, Kubernetes, Rancher, Istio, Apigee, Jenkins/CloudBees, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture, resiliency, security, observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering.
• Experience implementing automated testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, and Playwright.
• Knowledge of AI/ML application development, including Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, MCP, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
• Proven ability to lead complex initiatives in Agile and DevOps environments, influence technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, cloud-native enterprise applications.
• Architect and implement microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed applications.
• Develop modern, responsive user experiences using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Build and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and containerized architectures.
• Partner with Product, UX, Architecture, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code quality standards, automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
• Mentor software engineers, provide technical leadership, and influence architectural decisions.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies including Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, and enterprise AI platforms.
