Job summary

M&T Bank Corporation in Buffalo, NY seeks a Lead Software Engineer to drive modernization of the Enterprise Entitlements platform, delivering scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions for identity, access, and authorization across Digital Banking.

You will design, develop, and lead the implementation of API, microservices, and service mesh architectures, while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of systems analysis/application development, or 9+ years combined experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Angular or modern front-end development experience.
• Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native development experience.
• CI/CD pipeline implementation experience.
• Strong understanding of security, authentication, and authorization concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and modern UI frameworks.
• Lead implementation of cloud-native solutions leveraging Kubernetes, containers, and microservices architecture.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated testing and deployment.
• Define and implement API and integration strategies across enterprise platforms.
• Partner with architects and security teams to implement authorization and policy-driven access controls.
• Contribute to service mesh architectures utilizing Istio and Envoy.
• Author and maintain policy definitions using Rego/OPA (preferred).
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence, resiliency, and operational best practices.
